Peer Review Process

Journal of Integrative Science Education (JISE) follows a rigorous double-blind peer review process to ensure the quality, relevance, and integrity of the published articles.

The peer review process involves the following steps:

  1. Submission: Authors submit their manuscripts to JISE through the journal's online submission system, ensuring that the submission adheres to the journal's author guidelines and formatting requirements.
  2. Editorial screening: The editor-in-chief or a designated associate editor conducts an initial screening of the submitted manuscript to assess its suitability for the journal's scope, quality standards, and adherence to ethical guidelines. Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be desk-rejected at this stage.
  3. Reviewer assignment: If the manuscript passes the initial screening, the editor assigns it to typically two or three expert reviewers who have relevant expertise in the subject area. The reviewers are selected based on their knowledge, experience, and previous contributions to the field.
  4. Double-blind review: JISE employs a double-blind review process, which means that both the authors and the reviewers remain anonymous throughout the review process. This approach helps to minimize potential biases and ensures that the manuscript is evaluated solely on its merits.
  5. Reviewer evaluation: The assigned reviewers carefully read and evaluate the manuscript, assessing its originality, methodology, results, conclusions, and overall contribution to the field. They provide detailed comments and suggestions for improvement, as well as a recommendation to the editor regarding the manuscript's suitability for publication.
  6. Editor decision: Based on the reviewers' reports and their own assessment, the editor makes a decision on the manuscript, which can be one of the following: accept, minor revisions, major revisions, or reject. The decision is communicated to the authors along with the reviewers' comments.
  7. Revision and resubmission: If the manuscript requires revisions, the authors are given a specified timeframe to address the reviewers' comments and suggestions. They then resubmit the revised manuscript, along with a detailed response to the reviewers' comments, explaining how each point has been addressed.
  8. Re-evaluation: The revised manuscript may be sent back to the original reviewers or to new reviewers for re-evaluation, depending on the extent of the revisions and the availability of the reviewers. This process may be repeated until the manuscript is deemed suitable for publication or is ultimately rejected.
  9. Acceptance and publication: If the manuscript is accepted for publication, it undergoes final copyediting, typesetting, and proofreading before being published online in the journal's forthcoming issue.

JISE strives to maintain a timely and efficient peer review process while ensuring a thorough and fair evaluation of each submitted manuscript. The journal is committed to providing constructive feedback to authors and promoting the highest standards of research quality and integrity.
